They shall not grow old, as we are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Surf Life Saving last week lost a legend...Darrell Eastlake. Darrell was a local legend and fierce SLS advocate. Darrell was a much loved and devoted member of Wamberal Surf Life Saving Club where he was a patrolling member and Boat Captain for a number of years, instumental in gaining the clubs first major sponsorship from "Village Theatre" for one of his greatest passions - Surf Boat Rowing and Sweeping. Larger than Life and with a voice even bigger, Darrell was incredibly passionate in advocating Surf Life Saving. In his role as the Sports Exec at radio 2GO, he would promote Surf Life Saving at every possible opportunity and upon taking on the role of Commentator for the Australian Surf Life Saving Titles, brought a whole new dimension of enthusiasm and passion to the organisation especially in Surf Sports...and who can forget his signature quote......it's huuuuuge! The coast has lost a legend but his voice and exceptional character will forever be etched in our memories. On behalf of everyone at Wamberal SLSC our deepest condolences to the Eastlake family.

Hi fellow cubbies A fundraising swim from Ocean Beach to Station Beach (near Palm Beach - 7.5km approx) is being undertaken to raise funds for David Isaacs family. David suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and could not be revived while swimming at Ocean Beach. It’s been a tough time for his family and for our club. The swim team has lifesavers from OB, Umina and Terrigal SLSC. You can join us to help Dave’s family by donating through the My Cause site and sharing the link.
Yesterday Wamberal SLSC hosted 25 ladies from Western Sydney. These ladies were all originally refugees from Africa, the Middle East and the Pacific. The Surf Club showed ladies IRB and board rescues, how to spot rips and the importance of swimming between the flags. All the ladies were extremely grateful and left with an understanding of the great work we all do.
Thank you to all the members of the surf club who helped in the day. Thanks also to Shamus and Terrigal Wamberal Lions Club for thier effort.

UNSW Coastal Hazards Research - Complete a survey to go in the chance to win 1 of 3 iPads
UNSW Sydney is conducting a study about what the NSW community knows about their coast, particularly in terms of climate change, coastal erosion and flooding. We're interested in hearing from all NSW Surf Life Saving Club members, whether you’re a new member or have been part of a SLSC for years, your opinions will greatly assist this study.
they’ve prepared a 12 minute survey to get your perspectives on the NSW coast and what concerns you about its’ future. Participants can go into the draw to win 1 of 3 iPads.
The survey can be found at:

Please feel free to share this link with any SLSC members you know in NSW.

the Envirobank Recycling Mobile Collection Service will be held at Wamberal Beach this Saturday 24th March from 1pm to 5pm.
PLEASE bring your recycling down to the club to support this program and earn yourself some money!
How does it work?
COLLECT
Start collecting eligible bottles and cans and separate them by material type (e.g. plastic, aluminium, glass).
Make sure they have the 10c label.
Please avoid crushing them.
We’ll be giving away our reusable orange collection bags at our mobile collections so make sure you pick some up! Or you can drop into surf club office and collect an orange bag.
RETURN
Bring the containers to your club’s next Envirobank mobile collection. The Envirobank Recycling team will confirm how many eligible containers you have. They can accept up to 1000 containers per person at mobile collections. For larger volumes, please drop them to the Envirobank automated depot opening next week in West Gosford.
EARN
Get paid through Envirobank rewards portal, Crunch. They can set you up with a membership card at the collection (it’s easy). Through Crunch, you can access your 10c refunds via PayPal, as well as a whole lot of other awesome rewards.
*Please note: for security reasons, cash payment is only available for deposits of 100 containers or less
