Wamberal Surf Life Saving Club runs a number of surf life saving courses throughout the year. These include but are not limited to the Open water Bronze Medallion, IRB crew and driver’s qualifications and the Surf Rescue certificate.

Club members need to have their Bronze Medallion to be able to use club equipment, compete and do patrols. New members are encouraged to become qualified lifesavers by completing their SLS Bronze Medallion. Participants need to be at least 15 years of age to complete the bronze.

When members reach the under 14s age group they can complete their Surf Rescue Certificate as a precursor for the Bronze Medallion.

The Surf Rescue Certificate and SLS Bronze Medallion are also available to parents and helpers of the Nippers Program.

Our Junior Activity members (up to and including our Under 14 group) undertake a structured surf education syllabus. Through this program the children learn surf awareness and surf safety, along with many surf lifesaving skills. Parents of our Junior Activity members are encouraged to become members of the club and join in by assisting with activities.

To ensure the safety of the children, the club is required to have a sufficient number of parents qualified with at least a current Surf Rescue Certificate qualification. These parents can then provide water safety during the surf based activities of the children. Further information about all qualifications please contact the office [email protected].

Qualifications gained within the club are transferable and such qualifications gained through the club look fantastic on your Curriculum Vitae.
