Great work by the North Avoca and Wamberal IRB crews after patrol hours on Saturday afternoon who responded to an emergency call out incident to assist two ocean kayakers trapped 200m North of Terrigal Skillion and 50 meters out from the rocks in rough swells and 20 knot NE winds. One kayak had capsized and two men in their 20’s were hanging onto the same kayak in distress. Both clubs launched their IRB’s and responded within 3 minutes of the call which is an outstanding example of “Rescue Ready” after hours. The IRB crews safety returned the men, who were ecstatic to see their rescuers, back to Terrigal Haven. Both had been stung numerous times by blue bottles but were otherwise in good health. ... IPHONE FOUND
Last week, Wamberal's council life guard found an iphone in the sand....it looks like it may have been lost for some time by the looks of the cover, but the phones in good condition and it's turning on but needs a passcode to unlock it to find the owner. If you think it's your iphone that you lost on Wamberal beach sometime over the summer, message us with details of the cover, colour and phone carrier details.

The State Member for Terrigal, Adam Crouch today announced Wamberal SLSC has been the recipient of a generous grant to build a 1st level deck. We would like to thank Adam for securing the funds. The improved facilities will not only future proof our surf club but will allow us to continue to share the surf club and its facilities with the local community and community groups.

Adam Crouch has worked tirelessly with us to improve the facilities at Wamberal beach. He has also been a huge supporter of our club and that has included providing assistance recently to encouraging girls and women to participate in sport. I can't thank Adam enough for his continued work. This is a huge thing for the local community.

5% - 10% - the risk of contracting a gastrointestinal illness when swimming in water exceeding the safe levels of contamination

$897m – the amount spent by visitors to the Central Coast in 2018

Unlimited – the number of suggestions and solutions you can put forward to help address this issue

Great effort by Wamberal SLSC Patrol members over this weekend.
Today they responded to two swimmers who were in serious difficulty at Forresters Beach.
Skowie and Richard were able to launch the IRB in huge dangerous surf at Wamberal and head North. They found surf board riders supporting the swimmer. He was later transferred to a responding jet ski and taken to the beach. The other swimmer made his way back to the beach. Both men taken to Hospital but both are fine. Great effort by everyone involved.
This incident comes after a very serious fin chop to a board rider yesterday at Spoon Bay. In that case we were able to provide vital first aid before the arrival of the ambulance. Thankfully the board rider was released from hospital last night.

Thank you everyone for your effort.
